1992

Hella KGaA Hueck & Co. has been a system partner to the automotive industry in the front-end module sector since the early 1990s. The first front-end for the Golf A3 is produced in the new JIS assembly plant by Hella in Meerane for VW Saxony in 1992.

1997 


Hella wins its first contract with complete responsibility for development and component supplier selection for the front-end module of the Skoda Fabia A04. 



1999 


The Hella-Behr Fahrzeugsysteme GmbH (HBF) company is founded in 1999 as a joint venture between lightning and electronics expert Hella and cooling and air conditioning specialist Behr. In the same year, the Hella-Behr Vehicle Systems Inc. technical support centre is founded in the United States (Troy, Michigan). 



2002

A joint venture is established between SHB Automotive Module Company Ltd. and Korean automotive supplier Samlip. This is the beginning of a successful partnership for front-end modules in Korea (company headquarters: Daegu). 



2004

The new joint venture HBPO GmbH is formed, based on the Hella-Behr Fahrzeugsysteme joint venture, already well-established in the front-end module market, and joined by a third partner - Plastic Omnium Auto Exterior, a company specialising in painted exterior body components, impact absorption and pedestrian protection system.

2006
HBPO moves into its newly-built headquarters in Lippstadt, Germany.

2010

On the heels of the global financial and economic crisis, 2010 is the most successful year in the firm's short history.
